Too dark, object not centered, weird white square... 0/10 wouldn’t recommend for €20.

Lemme guess, they want a lot of money from you for that picture, too...

I hate that.

tell them you appreciate the offer, but the photo is not to your liking and will not be sending them the purchase fee.

As I said, € 20. So not too bad.

You were only fined 20 Euro? Man. My last ticket was 400$ :(

Some kind of weird crab currency right there...

That’s actually not too painful, at least. They tend to be $100 US and up around me.

Speeding is cheap (this was 113 kph in a 100 kph zone) in Germany, also the insurance premiums aren’t affected. What get’s you are the points on the license (none for this little incident, luckily). I don’t know if you still remember but I had to walk for a month roughly two years ago.

How long does it usually take for the nannystate to send out photo-based tax bills? Just asking for a friend who might have been speeding here and there in a rented F-Type in November.

This was taken on Dec. 21st and got here on Jan. 5th. I don’t know how long it takes to get to the rental agency and get your info to then mail it to you, but I’d say you should be ALMOST in the clear.

Ha, good to know. I’ve been checking weekly (they keep records online) . I know I went through at least one camera box at ~20 over, but everyone else was doing it too, so maybe it wasn’t operational. Still, I might have missed something.

There should be a camera for signaling a lane change, which seems to be declining in Germany compared to a decade ago.

Oooooh, I hate that! It’s O.K. if somebody pulls out in front of me doing 120 when I am closing in at 220, as long as they use their indicators. The Autobahn is there for both of us, we might disagree on the right travel speed/have different capabilities enginewise/whatever.... As long as they indicate I have to live with getting my wheels a little dirtier.

But if they pull out without indicating.... Well, at the end of the day, it’s no use honking or flashing at them since they will just blame that BMW asshole and never for a second think that they might have just might made a mistake.

It was different with the Accord. When that grandpa mobile flashed its lights you had a slight chance of a “my bad” gesture.

It’s something I expect in Murka, but not something I recall being as prevalent in Germany 10 or more years ago. I suppose this is a global culture of dumbing down. Maybe even worse in Germany, where’s also a whiff of paranoia masked as privacy, and there are weird laws against putting idiot drivers online via dashcam footage.

You’d be thought of even worse in a BMW across the pond, same for a MB (which I think still kind of has the “rentnertraum” image in Germany).

Something else I noticed more - people who will work to pass someone, them immediately exit the road, saving no time. Still worlds better than driving here, but I saw this a few times too - follow someone, blast past them, exit in 100m.
